Visiting the Miwuk Cultural Center

I recently stopped by the brand new Miwuk Cultural Center and Museum in Angels Camp, and WOW! It's a great place to take the family. They are open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm. Your support will help their broader goal to educate the public about the rich history of the Miwuk people.

This Center is a vital educational resource, preserving and celebrating the rich history, living culture, language, and traditions of the Miwok people, particularly the Southern Sierra Miwuk, through exhibits, artifacts (like the significant Dr. Cooper basket collection), language programs, and storytelling, aiming to educate the public and ensure the legacy of the Miwok Nation for future generations.

Their mission is “To educate the public about Miwok history and culture to continue the living legacy of the tribal organizations, honor ancestors, and enrich cultural understanding.”

Be sure to check them out!
