Joint Statement Regarding Incorrect Information in Calaveras County Voter Information Guides
[Modesto, CA] - 10/03/2026 - The Masuda for Congress Campaign issued a joint statement with the Jaron Brandon for State Senate Campaign regarding incorrect information printed and distributed in Calaveras County, California, voter information guides. The Campaigns demand an immediate reprint of the voter guides, a public statement from the Calaveras County Elections Office, and the establishment of a ballot and voter guide proofing standard, which would allow campaigns to review documents prior to printing. The Calaveras County Elections Office has not responded to our requests for comment.
“Our campaign is disappointed to find that inaccurate details regarding our platform and candidacy were printed in the voter guides sent to residents,” said Michael Masuda. “Access to accurate, reliable information is essential for a fair and transparent election. Voters should have confidence in our elections and we want to reassure voters that these errors do not reflect our official platform, positions, or filing data.”
The Jaron Brandon for State Senate Campaign was also impacted. “Voters deserve clarity and accurate information when they look at their official voter guides,” Jaron Brandon said. “While administrative errors happen, our priority right now must be ensuring that every resident has the correct details.”
The Masuda Campaign encountered similar issues in Calaveras County during the June 2 Primary and is urging the County to establish a process to identify and correct errors before ballots and voter guides are finalized to ensure such issues do not occur.
They are actively contacting local election officials throughout CA-5 to ensure correct
materials are issued to the public as quickly as possible. Voters seeking to verify their ballot details or review the official platforms of each campaign are encouraged to visit
their authorized websites at votemasuda.com and votejaron.com or consult updated advisories published directly by the Calaveras County Elections Office.
