Masuda calls out mcclintock’s taxpayer funded town hall

"Tom McClintock held a town hall paid for by taxpayers in a county he does not represent. Alpine County is Congressman Kevin Kiley's district. It has been all term. When I campaign in Alpine County, my campaign pays for it. That's how it's supposed to work. A congressman who has spent forty years lecturing the country about government waste should not need that explained to him. Career politicians don't cut corners like this when they're confident. They cut corners when they're worried. The only thing Alpine County has that interests Tom McClintock is a ballot with his name on it this November."

Alpine County promoted the agendized event through its official channels using a county-produced flyer and listing the county's Public Information Officer as the contact. The flyer described McClintock as "Serving California's 5th Congressional District." Under the current congressional maps, which govern representation through the end of this Congress, Alpine County residents are served by Rep. Kiley in the 3rd District. The new district lines approved under Proposition 50 apply to the 2026 election, in which Alpine County voters will choose between McClintock and Masuda.”

The campaign is calling on Alpine County to clarify who requested the event and its promotion, and to confirm whether equivalent venue and publicity would be made available to all candidates on the November ballot. A formal Record Request has been submitted to Alpine County officials.
